Warning – Avoid Posen-Robbins School District 143.5!

June 13, 2012 in General Announcement

This post is to act as a warning to all other musicians out there. Do not work for Posen-Robbins School District 143.5 in Chicago. They hired us to provide a 2 piece steelband, and after telling us that we sounded great at the event they now have decided that our services were not worth the money and are not paying.

We were contacted only 4 days before the event while Matt was driving to VA Beach so although a contract was sent over e-mail confirmation was done over the phone. We were trying to help out a school that needed entertainment and decided to not enforce the usual policy of a deposit and physically signed contract due to the time frame. Due to this terrible experience, Potts & Pans will no longer accept any performances without a deposit and a signed physical contract. No more agreements will be made over the phone, unless also confirmed in writing.

Sorry for the inconvenience this may cause some of our future clients, but we tried to believe that people are decent and that somebody’s word still means something today. This proves that although many people are trustworthy, there are some people out there that do not live up to their verbal agreements. Because of this, everybody will have to deal with the minor inconvenience of signing a physical contract and providing a deposit before Potts & Pans will even drive to your event. There will no longer be any exceptions made. How bad off is our society that schools are not honoring their verbal agreements?

*****I am updating this posting to reflect that the superintendent got involved and resolved the issue, thankfully that debacle is over.*****
